Humanitarian Jim Donald offers the Full Apology: “Stupid people, prone to violence, with short time horizons, needed masters.”
Nick Land brings Moldbug’s sovereignty controversy into the light of day.
Great stuff in Moldbug’s Peanut Gallery. On the equivalency of porn and politics, TPS points out:
In the other area you have political agitation (libido dominandi stimulating depictions of human activities) and the corresponding satisfaction of this libido/desire. Satisfaction provided by a hierarchy of empty acts of increasing sophistication, from voting, protesting, culminating in violent protest (with violence the facsimile of power).
Which is as far from exerting actual power as rubbing ones genital area with a dildo or pseudo-vagina/mouth/anus is from actual sexual intercourse with another living, breathing, human.
In fact with The Femen (and similar doth-protest-too-much groups), I think we’re seeing an endgame to dopamine receptor overload, in which zero-cost porn and zero-cost politics merge in a single cesspool of homogenized, narcissistic, self-adulating onanism.
I need feminism because… Mark Richardson posts some lowlights in answer to that fill-in-the-blank question from Cambridge (Univ. England, not “our fair city MA”, tho’ no doubt the results would have been similar). Pretty humorous actually. My take on it is that to need, i.e., anything whatsoever, is an inherently feminine trait. Therefore to ask the question is to answer it: I need feminism because… I need. What you really need is a big, strong, independent man who, in exchange for your devotion to him, will promise to take care of you. But devotion is so gosh-darn expensive. So let’s pose for cameras instead.
And speaking of feminism: Free Northerner takes notes of some recent feminist hijinks in SFWA:
The question is not, “whose participation in genre fiction is more valid?”
The true question is, “why the hell won’t you leave us alone?”
If you want to avoid the reputation for ruining everything, ladies, then you need to start by stopping ruining everything.
The Social Patholigist: “If Mencken is right, the democracy is doomed.” Mencken is right.
Bruce Charlton tends to assume bad intentions: “The options are basically good people accidentally doing harm or purposive evil deliberately destroying good.” Those are not the only options, even if you were asking about the intentions of a single person, to say nothing of an entire collective entity known as Western Elites. Obviously, an entire spectrum from “basically good” to “basically not so hot” exists in any population. Moreover, it is almost inevitable that any supposed deliberate evil, i.e., “destroying good”, subsists in the selection of some good vis-à-vis some other, which happens to not the overall, long-term best one. The problem with evil isn’t that it is merely evil, but that it is mostly good.
Wow, Steve Jobs hasn’t been dead very long, and they’ve made a movie about him:
(via media minder Anthony Sacramone)
Sonic Charmer wonders about the open borders puzzle… that you’re not supposed to wonder about.
Chuck Ross on the disallowal of forensic scream experts’ testimony in the Zimmerman case, and more broadly the rather unseemly role coverage has played in this entire debacle.
BTW, why is it, on NPR (the smart people’s radio station), they say stuff like, “Zimmerman says he acted in self defense, while prosecutors say he racially profiled Trayvon Martin”? As if 1)they both couldn’t possibly be true; and 2)they have anything at all to do with each other? I mean, if this is how they talk to the “smart” people, then what on earth are they telling the dumb ones?!?!!
That’s it for now… til next “week”… The Reactivity Place, Over and Out.
i will not rest easy until these posts are titled “this week in the Aquarium”.

Re – outside in Moldbug controversy:
The Cathedral is indeed a Church and not an Army.
Your chances of getting a Church in the next millennium absent utter collapse – quite possible given our finances and rather High Equilibrium with High Mistrust side by side – are quite low. In any case you’d be trying to build your Anti-Versity in gale force winds of chaos.
The chances of getting an Army are much better. That’s the world we live in, not the world of theories but of the dawning reality.

There have been 4 Historical developments the last 5 years:
* Government governs without Congress [no budgets]
* The Dems are destroying their captive opposition the Republicans [madness]. No need for a foil now.
* Democracy is beginning a return after 80 years, as the people suddenly realized it’s gone.
* In Nov 2012 white self consciousness suddenly returned.
