  1. I don’t like where this is going at all.

There is currently a very small and loose network of people who are interested in serious intellectual discourse beyond the ideological bounds of mainstream acceptability, and who have the necessary knowledge, intelligence, and good faith to create such a discourse. If they are to attract the attention (and contribution) of further smart, worthwhile, and original people, this is possible only if they project am image of serious and reasonable individuals. They also need to make sure that they are really pursuing truth for its own sake, rather than creating some weird internet sect and jostling for status and superficial image within it — and to ensure that this is evident from their appearance as well.

This sort of juvenile and self-congratulatory material is downright destructive for all these ends. It projects a hideous image that is at the same time nerdy and cultish, and it extols status and appearance over substance.

  2. Hi Vladimir:

Thanks for visiting. I’m not absolutely certain anything is “going anywhere”, but gotta let Radish be Radish. He has put up a lot of very good and serious, if admittedly derivative, stuff. But he’s always had that Unamused-y flavor. I think there’s room for the goofy stuff, but I agree it should not be the main focus.

As Goulding has it, there are about three tiers in The Reaction®: the sages, the sophomores, and the proles. Although he classifies himself a sophomore, he is merely being humble. I am maybe a sophomore… but only because I’m 46. So I think the sages of The Reaction® need to keep having that discussion of which you write. And I think they will. And if you’re the same Vladimir I see over at Foseti’s and Land’s (??), then maybe you’re in that sages group as well. But Dark Enlightenment game cards seems to me like a bit of innocent fun… it isn’t as though anyone’s paying any attention yet… the artistry and thought going into them is really quite stunning.

And besides, there are a lot proles we need to attract… they have all the guns.

  3. I for one welcome our new “dungeons & dragons” & “magic: the gathering” overlords.
If more RPG’er or former RPG’ers entered the reactosphere – that would be a good thing. they all tend to be triple digit IQs at least, which can be helpful (look how well it worked out for the DWL SWPL leftists – stacked with triple digit IQ’ers!)

  4. Unamused has an outstanding reputation among the Dissident Right. No one had ever heard of any of your “sages,” except for Moldbug. You should be grateful for his participation. He will certainly attract attention.

At some point the discourse has to actually step out of the tower and fight in the real world with whatever real army it can find. D&D nerds might be annoying, but they’re the least compromised and the most motivated. Plus, they’re childish, which makes them a great testing ground for what we’re going to teach to schoolchildren instead of democracy, equality, and the pursuit of Happy-Happyness.

Did you assume that the apocalypse would never come, and that you could keep arguing forever? Did you ask God to hold back the tide of artistic hearts? Did you have an alternative army waiting in the wings?

No? Then get in line and pay attention.

Thanks for visiting. I’d have to say I’d be relieved to think that Moldbug cared enough anymore even to be embarrased! He said his piece and seems to have moved mostly on… Will he serve on the Permanent Politburo of The Reaction®? We’ll have to wait-n-see…
